Nerd Con: Back To School
November is always a bit chaotic for me. I have to juggle time between a heavier workload due to co-workers taking off to be with their families for the holidays and finding a way to spend time with my own family until I get my shot at a few days off (I usually wait until December). One of the few things that allows me to stop for a day, rest, and reset in November is Nerd Con in Mont Belvieu, TX. This free event is put on by Nerd Fest Texas, the City of Mon Belvieu, the Chambers County Library System, and The Eastern Rim Funnybook And Vintage Con. Every year that I’ve attended has been a blast and I’m sure that this year will be no different.

There are always a number of awesome guests, artists, authors, and vendors at Nerd Con and this year, I’m excited to meet two of them. First off, I’ll get to meet one of my favorite guest actresses from The Big Bang Theory, Katie Leclerc, who portrayed one of Raj’s many soul-crushing girlfriends, the gold-digging Emily! I’m also looking forward to meeting everybody’s favorite big brother from the late 70s/early 80s, Willis, better known in real life as Todd Bridges, from Diff’rent Strokes! As a young kid growing up in the 70s/80s, I always looked up to Willis. He was so cool and such a good brother to Arnold. It will be awesome to finally meet Todd Bridges in person.
Nerd Con will also feature some other amazing guests like Beverley Mitchell (7th Heaven), Jamie Donnelly and Barry Pearl from Grease, Calista Craig from Stranger Things, Marilyn Harris from Victorious, and voice actors Riki Simons, Linda Young, and Cynthia Cranz. Other guests will include comic guests like Travis Huffman, authors Bonnie Burton, Melissa Algood, Rose Garcia, Eric Christensen, and Brian Lazarow. There will also be cosplay guests and cosplay groups such as Peachy, Celestial Stars, The Southeast Texas Ghostbusters, and many, many more.
I’ve had some amazing times at past Nerd Con events, and the above photos of my ugly mug and Keith Coogan and Maia Brewton show just how much fun this event is! I highly recommend checking out Nerd Con this coming weekend. I’ll be there and I hope to see you there as well!
Thanks for checking out my post. Let me know in the comments if you’ll be attending Nerd Con and maybe when can meet up at the event. I’d love to meet you!
